Objective
This SOP guides users through installing the NinjaTrader 8 sync add-on and configuring it so trades automatically sync into Lock It Trade with no manual uploading required.
Step 1: Access Import Trades
Navigate to Broker Sync → Import Trades inside Lock It Trade.
This is where you configure automated syncing for futures accounts.
Step 2: Select the NinjaTrader Sync Option
You will see two sync options:
Tradeovate API (requires an additional $25 fee)
NinjaTrader Desktop Add-On (free and recommended)
Select NinjaTrader Desktop Add-On to proceed.
Step 3: Enter Your Futures Account Name
Type in the account name exactly as it appears in your trading platform.
Examples:
“Apex 50K Evaluation”
“TopStep 100K”
“Live NQ Account”
This helps Lock It Trade correctly label and sync your trades.
Step 4: Configure Starting Balance
Leave the Starting Balance field empty to allow Lock It Trade to sync your real balance automatically.
Enter a balance ONLY if you want to override the synced balance.
Step 5: Download the NinjaTrader Indicator Add-On
Click Download NinjaTrader Indicator.
If your computer warns or blocks the file, choose Download Anyway — this is normal.
A ZIP file will be saved to your computer.
Step 6: Sign Into NinjaTrader Desktop
Open NinjaTrader 8 Desktop.
Log in using your credentials.
Step 7: Generate Your Device Key in Lock It Trade
After downloading the indicator, click I’ve Downloaded the Indicator.
Lock It Trade will generate a Device Key.
Keep this page open — you will paste this key into NinjaTrader shortly.
Step 8: Open Control Center in NinjaTrader
Go to the Control Center, the main NinjaTrader dashboard.
You must be inside Control Center to install the add-on.
Step 9: Import the Lock It Trade Indicator (ZIP File)
In the Control Center, click Tools → NinjaScript → Add-On.
Select the downloaded ZIP file.
Click Open.
NinjaTrader will confirm that the import was successful.
Step 10: Restart NinjaTrader (If Needed)
NinjaTrader may restart automatically after the import.
If it does, simply reopen it and log back in.
Step 11: Open Any Chart in NinjaTrader
Open any instrument — Oil, S&P, Nasdaq, Micros — any chart is acceptable.
Any timeframe works as well.
Step 12: Add the Lock It Trade Sync Indicator
Right-click on the chart → select Indicators.
Search for “Lock It Trade Sync”.
Click Add to attach it to the chart.
Step 13: Paste Your Device Key into NinjaTrader
In the indicator settings panel, locate the Connection section.
Copy your Device Key from Lock It Trade.
Paste it into the field inside NinjaTrader.
Ensure the following options are enabled:
Enable Auto Sync
Sync All Accounts
(If you trade multiple accounts, repeat this indicator setup separately for each one.)
Step 14: Adjust Sync Timing & Backfill Settings
Recommended settings:
Sync Interval: Change to every 15 minutes.
Enable Backfill: Turn ON to import previous trades.
Include Balance: Turn ON to sync your live balance accurately.
Step 15: Finalize Settings
Leave remaining settings at their defaults.
Click OK to finalize installation.
Step 16: Test Your Connection in Lock It Trade
Return to Lock It Trade and click Next Step.
Select Test Connection.
If installed correctly, you will receive a success message confirming the device key was detected.
Step 17: Contact Support if Needed
If trades do not sync or the connection test fails:
Email: [email protected]
The team will assist with troubleshooting until everything is working properly.
Cautionary Notes
Ensure you are using NinjaTrader 8 Desktop, not the web version.
Your Device Key must be copied exactly — even one wrong character will prevent syncing.
Do not unzip the indicator file before importing.
NinjaTrader must be open for real-time syncing to occur.
Tips for Efficiency
Keep Lock It Trade and NinjaTrader open side-by-side during setup.
Use consistent, clear account names to avoid syncing the wrong account.
Use Backfill whenever reinstalling or changing accounts to keep history accurate.
